New Poll Feature

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

When running a site such as this one, its very important for us to know what types of things you like or don’t like about the site. We’re also interested in knowing what kinds of things you’d like to see happen going forward. We’ve decided to add a new poll to the right hand side of mot pages. This poll will be updated with new questions from time to time and we would really appreciate it if you took the time to make a selection and vote.  This kind of information drives our development in the right direction. We could guess all day at what kinds of stuff you guys care most about, but at the end of the day, we could be dead wrong! We appreciate your ongoing support and please continue to spread the word about CentralOhioHockey.com

Thanks,

Becoming a Captain

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

In order to begin entering both game and player stats for your team you’ll need to identify yourself as a captain. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Log in with your username and password. The “login” button is in the top right of the screen. You’ll need to use the same  username and password as used for the forum.

  2. Navigate to your team’s page. You’ll need to prove to us that you are in fact the team captain; Please don’t bother trying to become the captain of a team you are not associated with.
  3. Click the “I’m the Captain!” Button in the top right. If you don’t see this button, either you are not properly logged in or someone has already registered as the captain of this team. If you are the captain of your team and the button does not appear for you, please email me at coreysnyder@centralohiohockey.com and I can get you set up.

League Update Email Alerts

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

If you’ve ever wanted to see the latest league scores the minute they are posted, we’ve got just the thing for you!  We’ve introduced a new subscribe button on the standings pages. When you subscribe to a particular league, you will receive a single email per week, which will hit your inbox within minutes of that league’s stats being udpated.  The button looks a little something like this:

Subscribe Link

When you click it, you’re taken the “MailMan” page for that specific league. You’ll see some general information about what the list is for, but what you’re interested in is the “Subscribing” section.  Simply enter your email address, and the optional name and password and hit subscribe. From there you’ll have to check your email you entered and click the confirmation link in the email you received. This is to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you to our lists.

Lastly, I want to assure you that the security of the email address you provide is very important to us. We will never sell or give out your email nor will we send you advertisements from third parties.

As always, feel free to post your comments below and thanks for using the site!

New Standings Link

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

When you’re on a team page, you’ll see a new standings  link up near the top that looks something like this:

An image to show off the new standings link.

You’ll notice to the left of the link, we show you which league you’re looking at, as well as the session name, in this case “Winter 2010″. This link was created so that you could jump into the standings page for that specific league/session. That way you have access to the new Playoff tables for every league and session in the past.

If you were to click the Standings link above, it would take you to the Standings page for the Thursday D East league in the Winter of 2010 session. At the top of that page, you will see:

New Standings Header with session info.

As you can see we’ve added the the currently selected session name. It is there to help you keep track of the data you’re looking at. As the site continues to grow, and we gather more and more sessions of data, we think that this will really come in handy.

Since this this session took place nearly a year ago, and the playoffs have long been completed, you will see the playoff tables on the right hand side that look like:

New Playoff Tables

You should also note that any team names or league links you click will take you for the data for your selected session. You’re pretty much locked into that session, “Winter 2010″  until you either:

  1. Click any of these links at the top of the page:
Main Scores, Schedule, and Standings Links at the top of the page
  2. Use the team history table to navigate to a different session.
    Team History Table

If you like the new features, drop us a comment below and let us know. Also, we’re always looking for new ideas for stuff you, the players, want to see done. Just holler at us either in the comments or on the forum above.

Thanks,

Corey Snyder
